Delivery room

In the department of obstetrics, our new mothers give birth in one of our three well-equipped delivery rooms. There is also a labour room and a bathroom with a full-sized tub, all of them beautifully decorated to provide a sense of 'home'. Latest technology guarantees optimal security for mother and child. Mothers-to-be are taken care of by a team of eight midwives, conducted by Barbara Martin, 24 hours a day, and have a doctor at their disposal at any time.

It is our aim to have birth be as natural as possible, while avoiding risks for mother and child. Caring for each patient individually is our main focus. Thus, we see to your individual needs concerning the environment: Our delivery rooms are equipped differently, while special touches, such as soft colours and drapery add to the mothers-to-be's comfort. Furthermore, we routinely support the inclusion of fathers in the process of giving birth.

During their inpatient stay the new mothers can make appointments as regards aftercare after discharge with one of our midwives.

Outpatient childbirth combines the safety of delivery within the clinical centre with the comforts of the domestic environment. However, parents-to-be should have a think about whether their domestic situation really provides the environment necessary for the recovery of mother and child. Anyhow, daily home care by a midwife should be ensured before deciding on an outpatient delivery.

A full-size tub being installed, waterbirth is also available to you at St Vincenz hospital. The relaxing powers of water help to reduce the amount of painkillers to be given during labour, the rate of perinaeotomy and the time of labour. The child profits from the gentle passage from the uterus to the air via water.

You can visit our delivery rooms on our regular information evenings. Midwives and doctors will answer your questions concerning childbirth on these occasions. You will also be informed as to the possibilities of pain therapy and the possible necessity of a caesarean section.

Of course, you can make an individual appointment with one of our midwives. If you wish to do so, please call +49.6431.292-4460.
