'Centre for gynaecology' / 'operative gynaecological ward'
The centre for gynaecology is divided into two departments:
Obstetrics with delivery rooms, the postnatal ward and integrated postpartum care. The operative gynaecological ward:
The objective of the department of obstetrics at the St. Vincenz hospital is to support a childbirth as natural as possible while avoiding all possible risks for mother and child. The main focus is the provision of individual care for each and every patient. In addition, we offer outpatient delivery as an alternative to the riskier home birth. In order to guarantee the safety of mother and child, we have the most modern diagnostic and therapeutic devices at our disposal.
Of course, rooming-in is possible night and day. On the maternity ward, mother and child are no longer separated from each other, but are taken care of together.
On the operative gynaecological ward, the latest technologies are used to enhance the patient's care in case of diseases of the lower abdominal region or diseases and malformation of the breasts. We employ the latest surgical procedures, always striving to keep the respective organs intact.
The main focus is the diagnostics and treatment of breast carcinomas as well as breast reconstruction after mastectomy. Before the operation all suspect focuses of the breast are clarified by ultra high-speed punch biopsy or vacuum biopsy under local anaesthesia.
Medicinal as well as cosmetic breast reduction surgery, breast-lifting and breast augmentation are also part of our spectrum of treatment.
Furthermore, we treat the full range of benign and malign tumours of the outer as well as inner genitals (uterus, ovaries etc.), including postoperative chemotherapy and radiotherapy, in collaboration with the department of radio-oncology. Abdominal walls which have become slack or are scarred can also be corrected by plastic surgery. In case of urinary incontinence, specific surgical methods (e.g. TVT) are employed.
A further focus of the centre is the diagnostics and treatment of unintentional childlessness in the course of hormonal disorder or disorders of the ovary functions (e.g. occlusion of the fallopian tubes).
Microsurgery, helping to restore the organic competence, is not only an alternative to artificial insemination, but – in time – makes natural pregnancy possible.
