The department:

In February 2004, the administrative board of the St Vincenz Hospital Corporation decided to provide an investment volume of € 6.5 m for the comprehensive reorganisation of the department of radiology, embracing the acquisition of the latest technological devices, the construction of new buildings as well as complete digitalisation. By this, it took into account the dramatic technical and medical development in the field of radiology, making the latest technology available for the patients at the St Vincenz hospital.

Only one and a half years later, in the summer of 2005, this reorganisation process bore fruit. Since then, the department of diagnostic and interventionist radiology of the St Vincenz hospital has had a variety of ultra-modern devices at its disposal, e.g.:

Beside the expanded diagnostic spectrum provided by these machines, investment in the radiology information system (RIS) and the picture archiving and communication system (PACS) led to a dramatic improvement of the availability of x-ray pictures and thus to a significant improvement of the quality of medical treatment.
