Traumatology and orthopaedic surgery / Services
Being responsible for the treatment of accident casualties, the department of traumatology covers the entire acute traumatology including fractures, soft parts and joint surgery.
The hospital is a 'Level 1-Trauma- Centre' according to the regulations of the employer's liability insurance association. Treatment is guaranteed by 24-hour cover by a resident who is backed up by an assistant medical director. Furthermore, there is a stand-by team for emergency operations at all times.
In addition, many planned operative corrections of the locomotor apparatus are performed in the department of orthopaedic surgery. The results of theses operations are continually compared to the results of other hospitals since the department takes part in a programme for quality control. Treatment and care on outpatient basis is organised in close collaboration with the regional general practitioners.
