Frequently asked questions

Staying at a hospital can be fairly boring, so you will be looking for something to do pretty soon. However, most of the time you'll have to stay in bed – which reduces the possible distractions even more. But reading a book can be fun, and if you do not have a book at hand, just ask our nursing staff. Our library provides a fairly wide choice of books as well as individual advice. Borrowing books from the library is free, though, of course, a donation is always welcome. One of our volunteers from the library comes to ward with a cartload of books once a week!

Furthermore, there is the 'bookshelf' in the breakfast corner of the department of gynaecology where you can also borrow books.

Opening hours:

Tuesdays from 14.00 to 15.30,
Wednesdays form 10.30 to 11.30,
Fridays from 11.00 to 12.30.

You can also submit your written order for books with the ward, with reception or the Green Ladies. We have got games and picture books, magazines like Merian or Geo, specialised books, novels, books for young people, travelogues, illustrated books and biographies. For patients suffering from amblyopia we have got large-print books as well as audiobooks, for which we also supply the necessary cassette recorder.

Visits on the wards:
Wednesdays from 9.00 to 12.00

You have written a letter and want to post it.
For this purpose there is a postbox on the ground floor which is emptied Mon. – Fri. at 17.30 and Sat. at 12.30. The necessary stamps are sold at the reception desk. If you are not able or allowed to get up, please contact a nurse or one of our volunteers, the Green Ladies, who will certainly post your letter for you.

What should I wear if I want to post my letters myself or move around in the house for other reasons?
We are happy when you have recovered so far that you can leave your bed from time to time. However, you should wear appropriate clothes once you leave your room, e.g. a bathrobe or a tracksuit. This will help you to protect yourself from a cold as well as prepare you for meeting other people from "the outside world". Please, stay in your rooms during the ward round and the meals. Please, keep in mind that there are bedridden patients who are unable to get up and are in need of quietude. You should therefore respect the common rest periods and avoid loud music or conversations in patients' rooms and on corridors.

Our cafeteria
If you can leave your room, come and visit our cafeteria. You can treat yourself to a cup of coffee, a piece of cake or other things for your daily needs.
Opening hours are:
Mon. to Fri. from 9.00 to 18.00,
Sat. and Sun. from 14.00 to 17.00.

Please keep in mind that smoking is not permitted anywhere in our hospital, except for the smokers' room on the ground floor. A suggestion: Have you not always wanted to quit smoking? Your inpatient stay might be a good opportunity to stop.

Also, a hospital is definitely not the right place for drinking alcohol. Often, you have to take medicaments that do not go well together with alcohol. The ill body is particularly sensitive to alcohol, and it might hamper the healing process. Because of this you are only allowed to consume alcohol once you have checked with a doctor.

In order to make your stay as comfortable as possible, there are certain rules of the house which should be obeyed in the interest of everybody. The rules of the house are available on any ward. Please, help us to keep furniture, corridors, staircases and toilets clean.

You have certainly noticed our art exhibitions in the foyer of our house. The respective exhibitions are organised by the "Förderverein bildende Kunst der Stadt Limburg" (which is the city's association for the furthering of art) and are replaced at regular intervals.

Valuables:
As a basic principal, valuables should be left at home or deposited with your bank during your inpatient stay. If you consider taking valuables to the hospital indispensable, you can deposit them safely with our administration. Please keep in mind that we will not be liable for any valuables not left there. This goes for cars parked on our premises, too.

For hygienic reasons animals cannot be permitted in the hospital, the sole exception being guide dogs.
