Laboratory
In a way, the laboratory team resembles an orchestra at the opera: They work in the background, invisible to the patient. However, the work done by the team is one of the pillars of diagnosis and treatment in our hospital. 20 employees, managed by Hanna Kujawska, provide the essential data without which the determination of the causes of certain illnesses as well as the quantification of the respective parameters would not be possible. These data-sets complement other types of examinations and are thus vitally important for your treatment.
The central laboratory of the St Vincenz Hospital performs a broad spectrum of investigations and analyses in all fields of laboratory medicine. Beside the wards and outpatient clinics of the house we also provide neighbouring hospitals with laboratory services. There is 24-hour cover for emergency or urgent cases. Moreover, there is a blood bank in our laboratory which is responsible for transfusion medicine, too.
Beside all established types of analyses we also perform a vast number of special examinations, such as bacteriological investigations concerning hospital pathogens. We are able to analyse 200 parameters; further investigations are performed by affiliated laboratories. On average, there are 3 to 6 laboratory values per day and patient, 25 to 50 per case, respectively. Urgent analyses are done within one hour; the majority of requests are processed on the same day.
