Our pharmacy

In the basement of our hospital you can find one of the biggest dispensaries in Hesse. Certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 since June 2004, we supply about 3,000 beds in the administrative district of Limburg-Weilburg and adjacent districts. All in all we supply 18 hospitals – including the renowned Kerckhoff-Klinik in Bad Nauheim.

Our main task is, of course, the provision of our patients with high-quality pharmaceuticals. A complex logistics system guarantees 24-hour supply, controls replenishment and organises storage. However, our pharmacy is also responsible for supply in emergency situations and disaster cases, which is why we collaborate closely with the public health department. There has to be an adequate supply of infusion solution and emergency medicaments for disaster cases at any time.
Pharmaceuticals and medical products on the wards are controlled as to their proper condition by our pharmacists in regular intervals. Furthermore, chief pharmacist Klaus Schmidt is chief of the pharmacopoeia commission which is in charge of the selection of pharmaceuticals used in hospitals.

Another main focus of our dispensary is the patient-orientated preparation of infusion and injection solutions. We also inform doctors and nursing staff of the effects and the administration of the various kinds of pharmaceuticals via modern data bases. Moreover, the chief pharmacist is responsible for the education and professional training of pharmaceutical technical assistants, pharmaceutical employees, students of pharmacy, nursing staff and the professional training of pharmacists in "drug information" and "clinical pharmacy". Klaus Schmidt is supported by a committed team consisting of three pharmacists, four pharmaceutical technical assistants, six pharmaceutical employees, one student apprentice and four trainees.
